Our economical 12" plastic corner protector is the perfect choice for protecting both your cargo and your tie down straps while on the road.
It works with winch or ratchet straps up to 4" wide.
When to Use a Strap Corner Protector
Edge protection is required by FMCSA section 393.104 "whenever a tiedown would be subject to abrasion or cutting at the point where it touches an article of cargo."
This doesn't mean you only need protection when your cargo is sharp - even loads like lumber and shingles can cause strap damage. When you pull a tie down across your cargo at a sharp angle, then add tension, that puts a lot of stress on the tie down's fabric. A corner protector provides a more rounded angle to better distribute the stress and a non-abrasive surface.
